How we work
How we work
We agree what needs to be delivered, how we will work with your team and the fee. Each assignment includes clear responsibilities and a documented handover.
- 01
Scope
You receive a written scope covering the requirement, boundary, deliverables, review points and fee, plus a data request listing each input, its owner and the date it is needed.
- 02
Deliver
You receive the completed workbook, dataset, report or template set, with the sources, factors, assumptions and remaining gaps recorded against each figure.
- 03
Handover
You receive a handover guide setting out the method, the owner for each step and a review date or an agreed next reporting cycle.
Scope and fees
Agreed in writing, before work starts
We agree the scope, deliverables, timing and fee before work starts. Support can cover a defined piece of work or an ongoing requirement.
Where the requirement changes, the scope and the fee are revisited and confirmed again before further work is done. Reporting preparation and evidence quality are supported; independent assurance and certification are not offered.

Agreed outputs, method and ownership
- Work is defined in writing: requirement, boundary, outputs, review points and fee.
- Any change of scope is agreed with you before it is carried out.
- Assumptions behind each figure are written down and visible in the final output.
- Systems that already work for you stay in place, and the work fits around them.
- The appointment is stated plainly, so it is clear what the work does and does not cover.

Method and handover note
- Scope
- The decision or reporting requirement, organisation or product boundary, reporting period, exclusions, intended audience and named outputs.
- Inputs and provenance
- Data owners, source files, versions, coverage, units and dates, with missing evidence recorded and its effect on the work.
- Method and judgements
- Method and factor versions, assumptions, calculations, conversion basis and comparability checks, keeping company accounting distinct from product assessment.
- Review and limitations
- Preparer and reviewer named, with checks, corrections, unresolved gaps and the permitted use of the output. Estimates stay distinguishable from measured inputs.
- Handover and next cycle
- Final output and supporting register, access arrangements, owner responsibilities, update triggers and review points.
Illustrative structure. This is the shape of the method note prepared for the agreed outputs of an assignment, so the next reporting cycle can be run by your team.

Before a first call
Do we need new software?
No. The work starts with the systems and data you already run. Where a carbon accounting platform would add something, we can configure and support one, and established systems stay in place.
Can you work alongside our sustainability team or other consultants?
Yes. Work can sit alongside an internal team or another adviser on an existing engagement, adding construction data experience and delivery capacity.
Can you help with one deadline, or is this ongoing?
Either. Work can be a defined piece of work, or ongoing support as project help or an agreed number of days each month.
Do you provide assurance or certification?
No. We support evidence quality and reporting preparation. That is not independent assurance or certification.
What do you need from us to start?
The requirement itself, access to the relevant records (energy, fuel, purchase, project or product data) and a contact who can confirm assumptions.
How long does an assignment take?
Timing is given once we have seen the scope and the data available, and confirmed in writing before work starts.
What is expected of our team?
You approve the scope, provide the records requested, confirm assumptions where needed, and sign off inputs and reports before they go out.
What happens if data is missing?
Gaps are logged and flagged, with the requests needed to close them. We say clearly where a figure relies on an assumption rather than confirmed data.
Have a requirement, a deadline or a data problem?
Bring the questionnaire, reporting deadline, product list or current process. We will clarify the scope and the most sensible next step.
Scope, deliverables, timing and fee are agreed in writing before work starts.
